Positions

Property Maintenance Labourer

Job Type: Full time, Seasonal

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 50hrs/week + with the possibility of weekends

Starting Salary: $18.00/hr +

Summary of Work

Reporting to the owner and the team supervisor, the property maintenance labourer is responsible for general labour needed to carry out regular and specialized property maintenance tasks for our commercial and residential clients.

Expected Duties

Onsite Operations
Approximately 80 % of this position will be onsite operations.

  • Manual labour (digging, raking, and moving materials) as needed

  • Driving, towing and hauling materials and equipment

  • Garden weeding, planting, and mulch installation

  • Effectively complete tasks as assigned by team supervisor and owner using proper and safe handling techniques to conduct maintenance work to quality standards

  • Respect integrity of equipment and private property, taking all necessary precautions to ensure no damage is caused.

  • Responsible for following health and safety on-site and for inputting into incident reports

  • Responsible for assisting in site inspections before leaving to ensure quality standards are met and no equipment is left behind. 

  • Responsible for participating in daily vehicle and equipment inspections, including reporting any issues to team lead and owner

Equipment 
Approximately 5 % of this position will be managing equipment.

  • Responsible for ensuring equipment is in working order, safe, and maintained daily (i.e. vehicles and equipment are filled with appropriate fuel and greased)

  • Responsible for reporting to owner any non-operational or unsafe equipment is serviced and substitutes are available to minimize down time

Travel
Approximately 15 % of this position will be spent driving between sites.

  • Responsible for driving company vehicles and trailers to and from work sites in a safe and professional manner.

  • Responsible for ensuring company vehicles are parked in compliance with road traffic laws and in a safe manner.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Full G-Class licence (Required)

  • Must be willing and able to work 10hr days (Required)

  • Property maintenance experience is a major asset

  • Experience driving with trailers or large equipment a major asset

  • A motivated, team player with a positive attitude

  • Punctual and hard-working

  • Organized and task oriented

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

  • Strong ability to problem solve and strategize while prioritizing safety and efficiency

  • Ability to read and understand site maps and schedules

  • Able to communicate effectively and politely with clients, co-workers and management

  • Experience cutting grass, weeding, and operating small engines and equipment (zero turn, back pack blower, push mower, etc.)

  • Familiarity with softscape materials (soils, mulches, sod, riverstone) is an asset

  • Plant knowledge (plant material ID, correct planting practices, basic maintenance) is an asset

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs +

Gardening and Softscaping Technician

Job Type: Full time, Seasonal

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 50hrs/week + with the possibility of weekends

Starting Salary: $18.00/hr +

Summary of Work

A gardening and softscaping technician is responsible for assisting in installing and maintaining various landscape elements. The ideal candidate is passionate about landscaping, enjoys working outdoors, and thrives in a team-oriented environment.

Expected Duties

  • Garden weeding, planting, pruning, and mulching and sod installation

  • Effectively complete tasks as assigned by team supervisor and owner using proper and safe techniques

  • Strong knowledge of plant species native to Ontario and seasonal care requirements as well as general plant knowledge (plant material ID, correct planting practices, basic maintenance) is an asset

  • Experience driving with trailers is an asset

  • A motivated, team player with a positive attitude
